From a YES student: FBLA State Conference
Saminu Umar is a YES student from Sokoto State, Nigeria. Saminu has been living in Marion, Iowa, and attends Linn-Mar High School through the U.S. State Department’s Youth Exchange and Study Program.
On 10th and 11th of April, I attended the Iowa FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) state conference in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Many of the Iowa high school students that are involved in FBLA attended the the event — about 700 students from across Iowa were present at the conference!!
I participated in the event “local chapter exhibit” with Danielle Toy, the girl in the blue dress in the picture with me. We got second place in the event and qualified to go to nationals, but nationals will take place in the summer (after I go back to Nigeria), so I will not be able to be there.
This event motivated me to know that settings goals is very important and working hard is what we need to do to work towards achieving our goals.

So proud of you Sam!!
